Rev. Dr. Moore was appointed Pastor of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in July 2015. This appointment occurred after serving as a District Superintendent for the Western North Carolina Conference United Methodist Church for seven years. Before becoming a superintendent, he pastored congregations in Randleman, Thomasville, Reidsville and Greensboro, North Carolina. He was an active member of the Board of Trustees at Bennett College for Women as well as Pfeiffer University. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Trustees at Greensboro College. Rev. Dr. Moore received a BA in Religion from Greensboro College, a Master’s in Divinity from Duke University, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Drew University. He was selected as a distinguished GC alumnus in 2011.

He is married to Marva Lowe Moore and they have a blended family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Rev. Myer Dahn

Myer is a United Methodist pastor from Liberia – a member of the Liberian Annual Conference and a recent graduate of Hood Theological Seminary, in Salisbury, North Carolina.  Myer was appointed as Assistant Pastor for the African Ministry in July of 2010.  He was recently assigned as Associate Pastor.  After earning his Bachelor of Theology degree at the Gbarnga School of Theology, Liberia, West Africa, Myer began his ministry at Miller’s Chapel UMC.  He was ordained in 1992 and served as Pastor of E. J. Goodridge UMC (Barnersville Estate) 1992 - 1997. In June1997, he was awarded a scholarship to attend Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN. Myer is an experienced Social Worker and works as a Case Manager in Gaston County. Prior to Myer’sappointment as the Assistant Pastor for the African Ministry at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, he served as Pastor of Faith United Christian Fellowship in Charlotte, North Carolina. On July 4, 2010, Faith Fellowship merged with the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church and both churches became one body in Christ.

Rev. Candido Albino

Candido was born in Puerto Rico on February 3, 1960. He received his associate degree on Social Work from the World University in Guayama, Puerto Rico. In 2016, Candido completed his fifth year of Course of Study at Garrett Evangelical Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.  Candido has served as Director, Pastor and Founder of Ministry Cave of Adulam and Remembranza Music Ministry from 1997 to 2006, and his first pastoral assignment was from 2000 to 2004 at Comerio Puerto Rico United Methodist Church. In 2006, Candido was called to the WNCC Conference for mission work with Latino Ministries in North Carolina.  Candido was appointed to Blair Road United Methodist Church Blair Road in Mint Hill , NC from 2007 to 2010 and then to Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord, NC as Associate Pastor and Pastor of the Latino Ministry.  Candido is married to Pilar Perez and has three bright children Tanairi, Thamar, and Uziel.

Abbi Williams

Abbi is our Director of Christian Education at HGUMC and loves being  apart of the Hickory Grove family!  Originally a native of Fort Mill, Abbi comes to us by way of Morganton, North Carolina—the place she calls “home.”  She received a BS degree at Appalachian State University in Music Industry Studies and earned her Seminary degree at Liberty University in Worship Studies.  She has served at churches in both Virginia and North Carolina and has now been called to serve with us!  Abbi is married to Andrew, and they have a dog named Moonpie.  She loves to go to the movies, plant flowers, cook, and spend time with those she loves.  If you see her, say hi!

R. Lance Burnette

Lance is a native of Morganton, NC currently residing in South Charlotte.  He began his musical studies at age 10 and held his first church position as Organist at age 14.  He was previously Director of Music & Liturgy at St. John Neumann Catholic Church and most recently Associate Director of Music & Organist at Grace Crossing, a baptist fellowship; both in Charlotte.  Lance was the accompanist of the New Vibrations Touring Youth Choir as well as Sure Foundation, both outreach ministries of the former Idlewild ARP Church.  Lance is a member of the Charlotte Chapter of the American Guild of Organists where he serves on the Executive Board as Treasurer. A graduate of UNC Charlotte with a B.S. degree in Accounting, Lance is currently the Captive Insurance Manager for Duke Energy Corporation.

Janice Barnett

Janice is the Associate Director of Music.  She directs the Sanctuary Choir at the 9:15 venue and will lead the Children and Youth Choirs.  Janice has served churches in the Charlotte metro area for over 35 years. She retired from Matthews UMC as Music Ministry Associate, where she was the coordinator for children and youth music, conducted the senior adult choir (Melody Makers), and previously served as handbell director and organist.  Since retirement, Janice has been in interim music ministry serving as Director of Music, pianist and organist in area churches. She and her husband, Ed are the parents of two children, and grandparents to five (4 boys and 1 girl).  Janice and Ed are excited to be in ministry at Hickory Grove UMC, and are grateful for the opportunity to serve God with you.  Feel free to contact Janice at .

Sharon has been involved at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church for over 20 years.  She became a teacher here in our preschool in 2004 and has served as the Preschool Director since 2008.  Her position allows her to use her gift of administration and her love for children at the same time.  She enjoys talking with preschoolers and their families, gardening, and loves her Carolina Panthers!

Gail joined our staff on December 18th, 2017. Gail is a native Charlottean and a graduate of UNCC. She and her husband Morris have a Pomeranian named Lady. Gail has been an elementary school teacher and church office administrator. She is a member at Durham Memorial Baptist Church and enjoys crafts and gardening.
