  • Office Closing

    The church office will be closed on November 25th and 26th for Thanksgiving. 

  • Giving Tuesday

    You know about Black Friday and probably Cyber Monday, but are you familiar with Giving Tuesday?  Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving that brings global attention to giving back.  We hope that you will consider making a special contribution to Hickory Grove UMC and give back this Giving Tuesday.  As always you can make your checks out to HGUMC, but this is also a great opportunity to check out our online giving at hickorygroveumc.com

  • Student Serve Day

    HG Youth will be preparing for Room in the Inn at HGUMC on Sat., Dec. 5th from 9am-1pm.  Lunch will be provided, and this will count as one of the required Student Serve days.

  • Children's Choir Christmas Special

    The Children's Choir will perform Christmas songs at the beginning of 11:11 Service on Sun, Dec. 13th.  If you usually attend the 9:15 service, you are encouraged to stick around for the performance.

  • WeCare

    All Angel Tree gifts should be returned by Sun., Dec. 6th.  Thank you for showing God's love to our neighbors in need.

  • Butter Braids- Perfect for Christmas Breakfast!

    HGYouth are selling Butter Braids to help raise money to go to Resurrection Youth Conference.  $14/Butter Braid--assorted flavors available: double chocolate, cream cheese, cinnamon, strawberry/cream cheese, blueberry/cream cheese, Bavarian crème, and apple.  Order from a participating youth or at the table set up in the FLC after church on Sundays through the 13th.

  • Parents' Morning Out!

    Need to do Christmas shopping, go on a day-date, or just have some alone time?  Sat., Dec. 12th from 9am-2pm.  $25/single child, $15 for each additional child belonging to same family.  Children must bring a bagged lunch.  Christmas activities, games, and crafts hosted by the youth.  First Aid and CPR trained adults will be present.  This event is for babies through 5th grade aged children.  Email Abbi at awilliams@hgumc.com to reserve a spot for your children.

  • Youth Chick-Fil-A Night

    Mon., Dec. 14th HGYouth will be singing Christmas Carols at Chick-Fil-A on Albemarle Road!  Come on out for a great time and be sure to tell your cashier you are there to support the HGUMC Youth!

  • Children's Caroling and Cookies

    Fri., Dec. 18th is Children's Cookies and Caroling for K-5th gr. and parents from 5:30pm-8:30pm in the Treehouse!  We will visit some of our homebound members to share some Christmas joy!  Then we will watch a Christmas movie and have a snack of cookies and hot chocolate with marshmallows in the Treehouse! Children should dress warmly, and parents please leave your child's booster seat if you will not be attending.  Email awilliams@hgumc.comor jstein@hgumc.com to RSVP.

  • Metro District Hispanic Ministries

    HGUMC is proud to host District Superintendent, Sally Langford, and the Metro District Hispanic Ministries for a special worship service on Sun., Dec. 12th in the FWC at 4:30pm.  Todos son bienvenidos!  All are welcome!  Join us for this great opportunity to learn more about the Hispanic Ministries of HGUMC and the Metro District. A meal will be served in the Gym following the service.

  • The King's Pajamas

    The King’s Pajamas is a nonprofit organization here in Charlotte that provides homeless and underprivileged children with a new pair of pajamas for Christmas.  Between now and Dec. 6th, HGUMC will be collecting pajamas for the King’s Pajamas.  Contact Ann Trammell with any questions.


  • Room in the Inn 2015-2016

    We begin our 15th season of Room in the Inn on Dec. 10th.  We will do 3 Thursday evenings in December and 2 Thursdays in January, February and March.  

    We will need Innkeepers, Host, Van Drivers, Meals Prepared and Laundry and Clean-up help.  Please check out the online Sign-up site to volunteer.  If you have any questions feel free to contact Bette Miller at bettemiller59@gmail.com or (704)567-2699.

  • From the Missions Committee

    The King’s Pajamas is a nonprofit organization here in Charlotte that provides homeless and underprivileged children with a new pair of pajamas for Christmas.  Between now and Dec. 6th, HGUMC will be collecting pajamas for the King’s Pajamas.  Contact Ann Trammell with any questions.


  • WeCare Volunteer Opportunities

    Packing and preparing the We Care boxes for pickup is a very labor-intensive process.  YOUR help is needed to pack clothing, toys and food for the sponsored families.  Opportunities are available almost every day of the week beginning November 3rd.  All packing is done at the Hyland house (the little white house) on Market Street.

    Tuesday 1:00-3:00 PM
    Wednesday  3:00-5:00 PM (before Wed. night supper)
    Thursday 6:30-8:30 PM
    Saturday 10:00 AM-Noon

    A sign-up form is available on-line at www.signupgenius.com/go/wecare or from the WeCare page on the church website.  You don’t have to sign up to help but, if possible, we’d like to know you’re coming.


  • Christmas Musical

    Rehearsals will be on Thursdays starting at 6:30pm in the Choir Room.

  • Super Bowl Chili

    The United Methodist Women will be selling homemade chili by the pint on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7th. Each pint costs $5 and all money raised will go to support our mission work with women, children, and youth.  Come to the lobby of the FLC after worship services and Sunday School on Feb. 7th to purchase chili for your Super Bowl Party and support UMW missions!

  • Youth and Children's Choir

    Practices will be on Sunday evenings in the Sanctuary.

    3yrs.—5th grade at 5pm ǀ 6th-12th grade at 6:30pm

  • Young Adult Bible Study

    All young adults are invited to be apart of a study that meets every other Tuesday at 4116 Bellingham Ln from 6:30-8:30.  Contact Abbi at 828-201-7788 for more information.


  • Wonderful Wednesdays

    Meals will not be served on Wed. night for the remainder of the year.  The Wednesday night Advent Study will continue to meet at 6:45pm.
