Updated Mask Mandate for Services

Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)

For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

As we begin the third year of the pandemic, God’s grace CONTINUES to keep us from serious illnesses and exposure to the coronavirus.  Though we are aware of some illnesses, there has not been a great outbreak among our membership or in our community that we are aware of.  WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED.

However, we cannot take this blessing for granted and assume that we are immune!  We cannot throw caution to the winds!  God gives us grace, but God also gives us common sense.  Common sense to take precautions such as washing our hands, keeping our distance and wearing masks.  We  do these things not just to protect ourselves, but to protect others as well. The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services reported 19,174 new COVID-19 cases Friday — the second straight day of record high numbers. On Thursday, the state reported 18,571 new cases.[1]

As we see the number of infections continue to grow, your clergy and congregational leaders have discussed how we will move forward, doing all we can to keep everyone safe as we honor the work God has called us to and continue to faithfully study and worship.

What Shall We Do?

1. We will continue to have faith in and live in the Blessings of God!

2. We will begin immediately, recording temperatures and attendance at worship services, bible studies and meetings.

3.  We encourage everyone to be fully vaccinated, which means being two-weeks after the last dose of vaccine.

4. Effective Immediately, Staff and persons inside the confines of the HGUMC Buildings, will be required to wear masks.

5.  Due to the current rise in positive test results and hospitalizations, WE REQUIRE THE WEARING OF MASKS AT ALL INDOOR MINISTRY ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING WORSHIP.

6. We will continue to maintain social distance of three to six feet between members of different households in indoor worship and fellowship activities.

7. To facilitate social distancing and accommodate the growth in attendance, the Latino Venue will begin holding its Bible Study and Worship services in the gym on Sunday mornings.

8. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 we request that you please STAY HOME.

“We have come a long way and we thank God for the blessings on us as we continue to worship.”   Pastor P.
